When I first spoke to Julie and Neil, I couldn’t have been more excited by what they had planned for their wedding. Their love for each other and for their home they had renovated, was a joy too hear and even more beautiful to witness on their wedding day. I love weddings that are different, ones that speak about who the couple are as individuals and as a couple. This didn’t just speak of the two of them, it was screaming it from the rooftops.
From the moment I arrived, I was a guest, I was certainly not treated as photographer, nor as someone they’d just met down the pub but as a friend who’d known the two of them for years. I seemed to be constantly refusing a tipple or two and I really couldn’t have been welcomed anymore. This is just how the two of them are, beautiful wonderful human beings with lovely friends and family to boot.
The two of them had been married days earlier and this was their celebration, a celebration of their love and commitment in front of their beloved home. A home they had restored and now oozed their love, affection and style. A celebration purely about them and led by a quite superb celebrant, Louise Burns. Following the very laid back and relaxed formalities it was straight round the back to a garden party.
A small marquee had been erected in case it rained and small tables laid out. An outer building was stocked with alcohol, in the garden a darts board, garden games and a swing. On the patio, some garden furniture, plenty of food, a dance floor and fairy lights. It was the perfect setting and boy was it the perfect party.
